Another Life

In another life, I would have walked,

not ran.

In another life, I would have been more serious,

had a better plan.

In another life, I would have laughed more,

been happier.

In another life, I would have been nicer,

not such a ---

In another life I would loved

and would have been loved in return.

In another life, I would have taken

your rejection better.

In another life, I would have moved on,

hand clasped in another's, a calming balm.

But that is another life, not mine.

So here I stand now,

Red coated hands and mouth,

burning anger satiated.

And so I will descend to hell,

sooner rather than later,

but Today I stand proud,

knowing I dragged you down with me.
