Pandemic Life

A new year started, our hopes raised high

Great things expected with our lives, new experiences

but we realized quickly that it wasn’t to be

and a tiny virus made us see

the simple things we took for granted.

And so it took some time, just lying in bed

Just to process it all, all the things that were said

And we, we were feeling a little bit daunted

We woke in the morning, still trying to understand

What went wrong and how to make it right

And we asked at the top of our lungs

“Is this our life?”

We banded together step by step,

Adjusting to this life while it tried to get in our head

We made it work although it took some time

With our friends and family on our side

And we, we felt it become a little easier

We learned to cook,

To clean, to wash,

We learned new crafts, and got into new crazes

We got a connection we never thought we would

With the people in and around our neighborhood

We found out that bad things don’t have to be so dark

We just have to wait a little to find that spark

To light our way

We finally figured it out, how to work through it

And it doesn’t seem so bad.

Before we knew it 2 years passed,

Everything died down what seemed a little fast

We were eager to get back to our real lives

To see the real world with our own two eyes

The excitement, the joy and the tears shared

Were the best feelings that we aired

But we will never forget those few years

That made us different, that made us near

Without them, who knows where we would be,

but it would always have been us against the world, wouldn’t you agree?
